Long Island Weather: Teens Monday Night!
Long Island weather is about to see the freezer door open if only for a couple of days as a strong shot of cold air visits the Eastern States. You can see the disturbance on the satellite loop dropping southeastward across Hudson Bay and the trailing cold front will be moving through here early Monday. The core of the cold air follows for Monday into Tuesday and then temperatures will begin to moderate Wednesday.
Sunday’s highs will be in the comfortable 40s in most places. Then we trend downward and we will hit bottom Tuesday morning across the area with lows everywhere in the teens and single digits. To think we have gone from 70s to 10 in the matter of about 10 days.
When the cold air arrives I still think there could be some flurries and perhaps even a burst of snow as the core of the cold air moves in. Some places might see the grown whitened up if a heavier squall should develop. Its a cheap thrill for snow lovers but you take what you can get.
I expect the lake effect snow machine to fire up Sunday night into Monday night upstate and there could be some decent snows in some areas. Once the cold air pulls out temperatures will moderate some into the end of the week.
For the long range models are pointing to 2 weather events. One for next weekend and the other for January 12-13th. Here is my latest video analysis of those events.
