Late Spring Storm System Gusty Winds Cool Temperatures
This is a rather unusual finish for the end of May. A storm is dropping southeastward through New England and will make its way eastward from Southeastern New England into the open waters of the Atlantic. Among the unusual things about this is will be the wind gusts into this afternoon that will be on the order of 30 mph or more across much of Eastern Pennsylvania to Southern New England, and even higher along coastal areas.
The rotation of the upper air storm feature with this is spreading clouds south and eastward and coupled with the cold nature of this system, we will have temperatures struggling today particularly from Northeast Pennsylvania, Northern New Jersey to the Hudson Valley eastward to Long Island and Southern New England. Temperatures may barely be able to make it back to 60 for highs. Further south in New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania, there will be more in the way of sun, less in the way of clouds and wind, and highs should reach the upper 60s to around 70.

We will also toss in the possibility of the odd shower with this upper low especially inland north and northeast areas closer to the upper low track. This system is moving fast so it will exit late today to the east, skies will clear, and it will be a cool Sunday morning with lows in the 40s inland and low 50s coast and warmer urban locations. Sunday should be a better day with more sunshine and highs back into the 70s.
Sunday night into Monday we will see another one of these diving troughs into the Northeast but this one will be much weaker. We will see sunshine and some clouds Monday with highs in the mid to upper 70s along with the risk of some scattered showers. Tuesday will be a little cooler with some sunshine and clouds. Highs will be in the low to mid 70s. No major rain events are in the cards for the week ahead. In fact it will remain rather dry all week and possibly into next weekend.
