A Summery Father’s Day Long Island Week Ahead Sees Another Dry Air Mass Mid & Late Week

Father’s Day could not have been much better than this. The humidity was reasonable. Temperatures were very warm. We had plenty of sun. Temperatures topped in the 80s. It was a good day for anything outdoors including the beaches. Dad had a good weather day for sure. Now we head into tonight and Monday and one big change for Monday will be the humidity which will move sharply higher. It will lead to a very warm and very uncomfortable Monday. This evening we are seeing some scattered thunderstorms developing well inland but the radar is showing a few pop up cells nearby so just watch just in case one sneaks in but for the most part it should not be an issue. Overnight lows will be in the mid to upper 60s.

As we stated earlier, Monday will be very warm and humid. There will be some sunshine. Highs will reach the mid to upper 80s inland and upper 70s to lower 80s coastal areas and Eastern Long Island. A cold front will begin to make its move Monday night. I think thunderstorms will steer clear of Long Island through Monday evening. During Monday night some scattered thunderstorms could move in.

Tuesday sees this cold front stall for a short time as it waits for another wave of low pressure to develop and move northeast. That will kick the front through here and get it moving again. We could see some showers and thunderstorms Tuesday until the front finally gets far enough offshore. Tuesday highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s.

Wednesday begins a three day stretch of low humidity and sunshine. Temperatures Wednesday will be in the mid to upper 70s. Dew points will be down in the 40s putting humidity levels in the 25 to 35 percent range. It will be pleasant and dry. This will continue on Thursday and it might still linger around for Friday before humidity starts to rise over next weekend. Highs Thursday will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s with sunshine. Friday’s highs could reach 80 to 85.
