Tropical Storm Julia Forms of Florida NE Coast
Latest satellite loops radars and surface observations indicate that Tropical Storm Julia has formed from an area of disturbed weather over the Florida east coast. Development has continued all evening and a defined circulation with tropical storm force winds have been observed. It does happen from time to time that tropical storms develop very close to the Florida coast under the right circumstances. The terrain is flat and tropical. If part of the circulation is over water it can energize as evident in this case.
Jacksonville radar shows how well defined the circulation is as it moves northward just along the coast. Tropical Storm Warnings are posted for the northeast Florida coast northward into Coastal Georgia
