Snow Forecast Ski Resorts, West Coast Best
Nothing has changed in the last few weeks. The snow forecast for ski resorts out west is like heaven. Just take a look a the snow forecast map for the west and you can see why. The snow is being measured in feet everywhere in the west. This is the best start to the winter ski season out west in many years. The east has been the place to be much of the time in the last couple of winters. But with the weather pattern they way it is and the prospects in the long range for colder air to invade the west, and more storminess, and you have the set up for mega snowfall.
Meanwhile in the East it is nothing but horrible. You know its bad then you get freezing rain in northern Maine and it is raining and in the 50s clear up to northern Quebec! While the weather pattern suggests a colder look later next week in the northeast it will only be for a few days. Perhaps the good news is that while the east coast ridge that has been so dominant for so long, while still there, won’t be quite as amplified. This might at least bring some snows to northern areas at some point. The overall look for the rest of December is not promising for southern areas in the Northeast. At least next weekend it will be cold enough for a few days for ski resorts to be able to make snow.
There is no sign of any pattern change for the remainder of the month of December. We may have to wait until early January before any meaningful pattern change tries to occur. These are today’s forecast highs in New England. You might as well water ski.
