Heating Systems Going On Tonight & Monday

Heating Systems Going On Tonight & Monday

Heating systems haven’t gotten that much use so far this fall but they will be getting some use tonight into Tuesday as a cold front passes through the area this morning. Now there will be a few showers coming through especially over Long Island and eastern areas as a little wave goes by. Rainfall amounts will be light and as the day wears on there will be decreasing clouds from west to east…though it may take a good portion of the day for the clouds to get out the way in eastern areas. Temperatures today will top off early on and will probably settle in the 40s during the afternoon.

Tonight will be cold everywhere and it will be the coldest night for many areas since the weekend in mid October. Most lows will be in the 20s except in the warmer urban areas which will probably be closer to 32. Monday will be a very cold day with sunshine but highs won’t get much higher than 40 to 45 in most places.

We don’t see much happening this week weather wise. Temperatures will be cold again Tuesday morning with lows in the 20s and low 30s again. Tuesday’s highs should inch a little higher reaching the middle 40s in most places. Wednesday with some sunshine after a chilly start we could see 50. Thanksgiving day looks dry with some sun and clouds and temperatures should be in the 50s.The onshore flow that develops is a concern perhaps for more cloud cover as we head into Wednesday and Thursday and we will watch for that possibility. It should be an easy week for travel. If you are driving in any direction from New York City or Philadelphia to the midwest, the south, or New England, the weather should be very quiet.

The weather map for 7pm Wednesday night shows a lot of cold air coming into the Northern Plains and Northern Rockies with some snow there and there looks like a snowstorm is brewing for the Northern Rockies. That storm moves northeast toward the Western Great Lakes by Thursday night.

But elsewhere it appears quiet though much of the west will be cold. That cold air will eventually reach the east and a cold front will probably get here during Saturday with some rain. We will talk more about that on a long range post later today. In the meantime enjoy your Sunday.
