It actually feels a little bit better out there this morning though the humidity is high. Yes it will be warm and humid today but overall it is better than the last 2 days as temperatures drop out of the 90s and back into the 80s. No west wind but a south wind making the difference. Im leaving in the chance for a pop up thunderstorm as they seem to be happening each day though I think the risk today is small.
Next comes a cold front that will move through on Friday. It is running just a tad slower as we get closer to this. But between the upper air support and the tropical mositure getting involved I think there should be widespread downpours between midnight Thursday night and noontime Friday in most places. With a little luck it could be a 1 to 2 inch rainfall in a season where widespread rainfalls have been few and far between, The weather service is showing a 1/2 inch to an inch and a half of rainfall with higher amounts in general as you head west. Following the gfs precip totals over the next 3 days the model seems to be fairly consistent from run to run so we will go with our rainfall forecast until proven otherwise. Remember that it has been a long time since reality outperformed. It has consistently underperformed for months when it comes to rainfall.
